FAQs

+ What is process to get started?

  1. Getting Started with Got Your Six Counseling, LLC
Listed below is our step-by-step guide to getting started with us. We have found that this has reduced confusion and allows us to get you started more quickly.
  2. Initial contact
Reach out to us by phone, email, or our contact form. (Please note that, although we have Facebook and Instagram, we do not accept messages/inquiries through social media). If this is an emergency, please go to your local emergency room or crisis center.
  3. Follow-up with Bridget
After we receive your inquiry, you will receive an email or phone call from Bridget, our administrative assistant, usually within 1-2 business days. She will clarify what services you are requesting, who you would like to work with, and ask you to provide your insurance information (if using).
  4. Insurance Verification/Cost Estimate
If you are using your insurance, Bridget will verify your benefits and send you an email with your anticipated costs. Please note that this is an estimate based on information provided by your insurance company and is not guaranteed. Clients are responsible for all fees not covered by their insurance company.
  5. Complete Initial Paperwork
Once you let Bridget know that you would like to move forward with counseling services, you will receive an email inviting you to our client portal where you will be able to review and complete our initial paperwork and upload a copy of your photo ID. Be sure to check your spam for the invitation! ALL paperwork must be completed before an initial appointment will be scheduled. We do not hold or reserve appointments if paperwork is not complete.
  6. Schedule Initial Assessment and Diagnostic Appointment
Once you have completed the initial paperwork, Bridget will reach out to you to schedule your first appointment with one of our clinicians. This appointment generally lasts about 90 minutes so that we have adequate time to review paperwork and clinic policies and get to know you. After the initial assessment session, appointments are generally 55 minutes in length.
  7. Begin services
During the initial appointment, you will have the opportunity to schedule continued services with your clinician. If you do not wish to move forward with counseling with us, we are happy to provide referrals and help you connect with other practices in the area. If you decide you want to work with us in the future, but aren’t quite ready yet, we will keep your information on file so that you can come back when you are ready.

+ What insurances do you accept?

Dr. Costello is an in-network provider with BCBS, ProviDRs Care, and Tricare West Region. She is an out-of-network provider for Tricare East Region.

+ You don’t accept my insurance/I don’t have insurance. Can I still see you?

There are a couple of options here.

If you have insurance that we don’t accept, you can pay for the services up front and then submit to your insurance for reimbursement. We will provide a “superbill” for you to submit. It is unlikely that you will be reimbursed the full fee but you may be eligible for a partial reimbursement. You will want to check with your insurance about out-of-network mental health benefits

If you don’t have insurance or don’t want to use your insurance, but cannot afford our full fee, you can:

  • Register with OpenPath, the organization we go through to offer reduced fee services for those in need ($60 for individual, $80 for couple/family).

  • ask about a sliding scale option.

+ Your license states you are a marriage and family therapist. Do I have to be married to see you?

Absolutely not! We see individuals, couples, and families and work with them on a variety of issues - not just romantic relationships.

+ If I have insurance, do I have to use it if I don’t want to?

No, you don’t. If you have insurance coverage but prefer not to use it, you will need to sign a document stating that you are choosing to opt out of using your benefits and will not request reimbursement later. Why would someone choose to opt out? There’s not a short answer to that one, but some choose to do so for privacy reasons. If this is something you are considering, we are happy to discuss the decision with you.

Let’s work together. Your first step is as easy as contacting us. We look forward to hearing from you.
