Got Your Six Counseling

Strength. Support. Empowerment.

When you’re ready, we’ve got your back.

We specialize in providing online relationship and marital counseling to military and first responder families, helping you navigate the unique challenges that come along with that life.

You love your partner. You value your relationship and wouldn’t trade it for anything. But, if you’re being honest… sometimes you're less than thrilled with their job. You believe in the work they do and you’re proud to see them as a first responder or in the military or national guard. But pride doesn’t erase your worry, nor the unique challenges you face.

It’s hard when it feels like the special requirements of their job and their needs are always more important than your own.
It’s hard when you’re forced to put your own life on hold in order to be there for them.
It’s hard when they have to leave for the job and you’re left wondering if you’ll ever see them again…

And it’s especially hard when you don’t have the support you need (looking at you, National Guard spouses), or when the predominant advice you get is “suck it up”  or “you knew what you were getting into.”

We’re here to tell you, the time for only sucking it up is over!
It’s okay to feel a little (or a lot!) overwhelmed & stressed.
It’s okay to not know how you’re supposed to deal with all the demands on you.

It’s okay to ask for some help.

That’s what we’re here for. That’s what we do every single day - we help people with their relationships. Sometimes that means doing preventative work like premarital counseling. Sometimes it’s the last chance the relationship has before a divorce. Regardless of the state of your relationship, we can help.

The reality is sometimes life is amazing, sometimes it’s a disaster, and sometimes it just is. We are there in all of those moments. When life has taken a difficult turn, our counselors can be a supportive voice and a helpful guide to get you through it.

Our founder, Julie Costello, has been doing this work for over 15 years now, since 2004. She’s worked with clients everywhere from a picnic table on a horse ranch to a traditional counseling center.

She also knows what the life is like because she’s lived it. She’s been an Army wife even longer than she’s been a therapist. So when you’re stressed out about new orders upending your life, you can know that she just gets it and Julie works hard to make sure all the counselors at Got Your Six Counseling also have this relevant lived experience.

If you would like to work together face to face, we’d be more than happy to see you in our Kansas office (2809 N. Broadway Street Suite E, Pittsburg, KS).

We also offer convenient, confidential therapy online. We can have video sessions that feel just like being in my office together from your computer, tablet, or smartphone. It’s incredibly easy to use and allows you the convenience of skipping the commute and having your therapy session wherever it’s most comfortable for you - your home, your private office, even your parked car during your lunch break. This also allows couples to have sessions with me while the two of you are at separate locations. It’s a great way to work together.

Our hope is to bring empowerment and encouragement to you so that you might gain the ability to continue your journey stronger, happier, and more confident.

If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation, or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, we look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.
